Maya was born and raised in Bombay, Maharashtra, India. Their practice engages with sensitivity and fragility as material that precede prejudice and permanance.
They have worked as an artist in Bangalore city’s meat markets and public schools; and fields in rural Madhya Pradesh. Maya received an MFA from the Univeristy of Chicago, Illinois, USA, where she is now a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Visual Arts at the University and The College.
