This work was made in the context of an MFA critique in the Department of Visual Arts at The University of Chicago. The artist invited guests to take a walk to a tree located outside the Logan Center of the Arts Building, across the Midway Plaisance, opposite The Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Goldblatt Pavillion. After the artist experienced a diagnosis and treatment of cancer and returned to art school, she felt that there was no art she could make that was more necessary than a chance to pause, give attention to the breath, and acknowledge life around our physical body.

The guests were handed out a piece of  5 x 8 inch paper printed front and back--

What conspired under the tree was discovery of the tree, climbing, conversations in clusters (not different from when in an art gallery), and confusion as to where the work and the critique begin and end.
